this blog serves to remind me of the electronic/indie electronic/idm music i listen to, and of that music, what i should listen to again and again and again and again and again

Denim On Denim - Secret Candy [2007][8/10]

i like his statement on his main page so i will post it here.
oh yea, listen to his music
"If I don't take control of my own mythology, who will? If I don't rally the troops of my own hunger, ambition, and carefully concealed opportunism, it is certain that no one will do it for me. Thus, I can only assume I will maybe work very hard and finally tether myself to a nice buoy in the evershifting current of respect, recognition, relapse, backlash, and revival that is what we call public opinion, or other times social esteem. This state might be considered a perfectly respectable state of mediocrity. To you it sounds like some negative self indictment. I disagree. It is, like all morally and ethically responsible success stories, a happy medium. I shall spread it out for yuz: if I don't take more bullets than Tupac, write more lines than Proust, shake more hands than Guiliani, paint even one picture, narrowly escape death countless times, go through a couple of publicists (all part of their master plan), have more posthumous releases than Jimi Hendrix (see also Tupac Shakur), have been an integral part of the relentless you missed it 60's, you should've been there 70's, Ayn Rand 80's, all things must pass (to VH-1) 90's, and the new world 00's 10's 20's 30's 40's again and again constantly referenced and revitalized by a crowd whose fervor and commitment even puts Moshiach's accountants to shame--if I can't do all those things simultaneously, well then I will be probably be viewed as plainly mediocre...But to reiterate: there is not one ounce of vitriol in these statements. There may be a little flare for the dramatic which, after all, compels you to keep stumbling through this irresponsible, broken prose, but there should not be the feeling of negative sentiment. So what I am really saying is that I feel better and so should you. All we really have to do is just make shit and not get too attached or angry at what may or may not happen. But herein lies the beauty of art, besides the sheer purity involved at throwing good money after bad, in the end it can never be bought or sold out as it is so priceless to begin with that someone actually sat down and did anything at all. Maybe I'm letting us off easy. That is possible. But I certainly don't have to feel guilty about it, I leave that to the tastemakers and vague insiders, that being their jurisdiction."

Telephone Jim Jesus - A Point Too Far To Astronaut [2004][7/10]

just another weird electronic hip hop virtuoso
currently residing at anticon
while i enjoy Anywhere Out Of The Everything more
i'm not listening to that now :)
this album is a neatly fitting collage of all sorts
old spoken word samples, nice clear hitting drums,
hollow spacey synths, and a bit of psychedelia
its a fun listen

Decomposure - Vertical Lines A [2007][9.5/10]

Fuck, probably one of the best albums i've heard in a damn long time
everything is on this one, from wickedly flowing rhyme, straight indie crooning
get a big Subtle/Dose one vibe from this one - minus the total cracked-out-ness
Hour 5 is way NIN
Isn't even worth listing favorite tracks,
if i decide to listen to this album,
i'm listening straight through -
and i will cut you if you interrupt
Sinner DC - Arkle Parkle Avenue [2005][8/10]
vitaminsforyou - The Legend Of Bird's Hill [2006][6.5/10]

"six o'clock in the morning when you woke me
i pretended to be asleep when you waved goodbye"
i think i really really like this album, but it is too long.
sounds like the notwist, beta band & the books...fucking.
